Today, we retire the Google Groups Asia Guestbook and moves things to a Facebook Group. With over 4000 members, we have no doubt you will find many people with which to share all things Asia. Like the Google Group, the Facebook page will focus on the John Wetton-led incarnations of the band.
All four original members of ASIA are pleased to announce the re-release of PHOENIX, the first album recorded during the reunion of Geoff Downes, Steve Howe, Carl Palmer and John Wetton, on the band’s own imprint label ASIA Music Ltd, via Cherry Red.
This re-release features the European Version of the album, the two acoustic bonus tracks from foreign editions and a bonus disc with the American version of the album. The release is now housed in a digipack to match the subsequent releases by the reunion line-up. The re-release also continues to feature the iconic artwork of Roger Dean.
When first released in 2008, the American edition included a different mix of the opening track Never Again and different mastering throughout. The band was aware that US fans may have a different perception of the album, because of these differences, so it has been included as a bonus disc. As this is on the band’s own label, it was able to control that the wholesale price was only increased by an amount necessary to cover the cost of manufacturing the extra disc.
The 2 disc version of Phoenix can be ordered worldwide through these links:
The first Asia album was released on March 18, 1982.
The members of ASIA have the following titles out ahead of a return to band activities in 2016. The band wishes its fans the best for the festive season and will be outlining future plans in a forthcoming announcement.
John Wetton’s Live via Satellite collects together both of Wetton’s acoustic solo concerts for radio broadcasts. The XM radio broadcast was an official website only title over 10 years ago and has never had a commercial release. The Swedish radio broadcast (previously unreleased) was thought lost in a fire, until a duplicate of the master tapes was found thanks to a long and tireless search by Wetton’s fans.
Carl Palmer’s “Twist of the Wrist” and “The Rhythm of Light” collections are the first two in a series of signed and numbered prints on canvas featuring stunning visual images constructed from his unique drum performances. Working with acclaimed L.A. art team SceneFour, the artwork featured within combine motion, color, and lighting into some of the most compelling fine art visuals ever created. A career first, Carl Palmer has co-authored a comprehensive book about his fine art collections. Titled “Art in Rhythm: The Artwork of Carl Palmer,” the First Edition of the book is now available to collectors worldwide exclusively from:
Geoff Downes’ DBA project with Chris Braide has released its second album, Suburban Ghosts, which follows on from the critically acclaimed Pictures of You. Chris Braide has written and produced for many artists including Sia, Lana Del Rey, David Guetta, Afrojack and recently produced Marc Almond’s album The Velvet Trail.
Sam Coulson has released the first solo album of his career, Electric Classical, which features his interpretation of various classical pieces, entirely played on guitar. The album features some well-known and no so well-known pieces all played in his unique style for classical and rock fans alike.

ASIA to release officially their historic performance
at the San Francisco Regency Ballroom
Axis XXX Live in San Francisco MMXII out on Frontiers in June
Frontiers Music Srl is pleased to announce the release of ASIA’s new live audio visual release “Axis XXX Live in San Francisco MMXII” in 2CD/DVD and blu-ray formats on July 3rd in Europe and July 10th in North America.
Recorded on November 7th, 2012 at the Regency Ballroom in San Francisco, this new ASIA live CD / DVD and Blu Ray captures once again the band, in the original line-up, in front of an ecstatic audience during one of the shows that ASIA performed in support of the “XXX” album and which was broadcasted by AXS TV in the USA.
With HD recording this new live album is truly a rewarding experience for all ASIA fans. After the recent DVD releases, this is Asia performing one of the very last shows featuring the original line up with: Geoff Downes, Steve Howe, Carl Palmer and John Wetton live on the road, in-your face and for your viewing pleasure.
The set list features songs from their first two albums and selected cuts from the reunion albums, including the single from the “XXX” album, “Face on the Bridge”. This is a historical document of where the band was at the time and a snapshot of their musicianship, camaraderie and passion. This live CD – DVD or Blu-ray is an irreplaceable companion to the “XXX” studio album.
According to John Wetton, AXIS is “A journey through ASIA’s history, from ‘Alpha to Omega’ and more, in the beautiful setting of the Regency Ballroom, San Francisco, California. Much newer material is aired, plus the band’s vintage hit songs performed by all four original members of ASIA. A stunning recording, an unmissable treat for any ASIA fan, new or old.”
Formed at the dawn of the MTV era, Asia’s first release was the best selling album in the world in 1982 and sat at the number 1 spot in the USA for 9 weeks, powered by the classic rock anthem, “Heat Of The Moment,” and four other radio hits. Asia’s 1983 sophomore album, Alpha, also went multi-platinum and enjoyed several hit singles, including the #1 smash, “Don’t Cry”. During the recording of its third disc, the band splintered, and by the 1990s, only Geoff Downes remained from the original line-up.
“Axis XXX Live in San Francisco MMXII” tracklisting includes:
